The following are notes I took while watching the video presented in Artifact 01 above…

SELF-LOVE is gaining an appreciation for yourself through the physical, emotional, and spiritual support you provide yourself with.

SELF-LOVE is not a fixed state: IT CAN GROW OVER TIME through actions that lead to maturity.

SELF-LOVE improves:

  • I’m Mental well being

  • Overall happiness

TIPS - for HOW TO PRACTICE SELF-LOVE

  1. FORGIVE YOURSELF

    • DO: SEE Mistakes as an opportunity for growth

    • DO: Let go of perfection

    • DO: NO self-deprecating talk — Don’t be tough on yourself

  2. BE MINDFUL

    • ASK: are your goals what you want?

    • DO: Be introspective

      • Self-reflection gives you a sense of clarity

    • HOW: journal, meditate

  3. ACT ON WHAT YOU NEED

    • ASK: What gives you energy? What makes you happy? What do you need?

    • DO: Don’t let yourself get exhausted

    • DO: Identify what makes you feel better - know what makes you feel worse

  4. SET BOUNDARIES

    • ASK: What behaviours are you willing to put up with?

    • ASK: What is acceptable, and what is not?

    • ASK: Start with Maslov’s Hierarchy of Needs - what do you need? (see below)

    • REMEMBER: Healthy boundaries help filter out things that drain your energy, harm you emotionally, physically, or mentally.

  5. PROTECT YOURSELF

    • ASK: Who do you surround yourself with?

    • DO: Bring people into your life who support you and your emotional, physical, and spiritual health.

  6. LIVE INTENTIONALLY

    • ASK: What inspires you

    • DO: Make choices that move you towards your goals

  7. SHOW UP FOR YOURSELF

    • DO: Don’t scold yourself. Acknowledge what good things you have done.

    • DO: Show yourself kindness and compassion.

  8. PRACTICE SELF-CARE

    • DO: Don’t ignore your basic needs

    • REMEMBER: Even checking in with yourself for a few minutes helps

    • REMEMBER: Practicing self-care can go a long way for your mental health and happiness
