WEEK 01: Welcome

I started this Coursera workshop SIT LESS, GET ACTIVE during the fall of 2023. This blog will serve as a repository of my notes and written reflections as related to the course.

1.1. Welcome to the Course!

The introduction to the course states:

What the course covers…

To start with, we're going to tell you about physical activity guidelines, and how these can help you become healthier. There will be practical advice on how to monitor your own physical activity, and why that's a good idea. We will speak to some people who are setting goals to increase how much they do. You can reflect on what you want to achieve and set your own goals. Then you can practice how to monitor your own activity.

In the second week we take a tour of different environments, like home, work and outside spaces. What are the different physical activies we can do in these places? We consider the options for using these environments to be more active, in ways that could be easy to incorporate into our daily or weekly routines.

Then in Week 3 we can look at support available. How can a leisure centre help you try new things? How can you get help during pregnancy to stay active? There are fun ways to keep your physical activity going, to make it varied and enjoyable. We also give you some expert practical advice on how to make physical activity a habit, and how to keep it going.

Taking this course is a great first step to sit less and get active for your health.”

1.2. Introduce Yourself
